French for Absolute Beginners – 10-Week Online Course

This 10-week online course is designed for absolute beginners who would like to start learning French in a structured, supportive, and interactive environment. The course begins on January 10th and consists of ten live online sessions of 1,5 hours each. Participants will receive a link to access the sessions online. A taster session will take place on December 20th to get a sneak peek at the course.

Furthermore, an early bird offer (€30 off) is available until the evening of December 23rd.

The course focuses on building a solid foundation in French while helping students start speaking from the very first sessions. Classes take place live in a small group (maximum 12 participants) and combine clear explanations, guided practice, and practical communication.

What you will learn

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• introduce themselves and others in French
• talk about basic personal information, daily life, and interests
• ask and answer simple questions
• communicate in common everyday situations
• write short texts and receive personalised feedback

In addition to the present tense, students will be introduced to one past and one future tense in the second half of the course. This allows learners to talk about recent experiences and future plans without being overwhelmed by grammar. Students will also be introduced to features of spoken French, such as liaison, the muted ‘e’ (e caduc), and word linking (enchaînement), to help with listening and pronunciation.

• Homework and questions are discussed together during the sessions

The course emphasises confidence-building and practical use of the language, rather than passive learning.

Teaching approach

The course is taught by a student of Romance languages who is completing her degree and has experience teaching languages. Lessons are designed to be engaging, accessible, and supportive, with the goal of helping students feel comfortable using French step by step.

This course is intended as the first level of a learning pathway. Follow-up courses and conversation classes will be offered to help students continue building their French, progress to higher levels, and gain confidence using the language.
