AustrianStartups Stammtisch #75: Startup Funding - Bootstrapping vs Investor Money

As much as we would love to focus on the impact, our customers and the product as founders, funding will always be an important topic on our minds. While some founders would like to keep their shares as long as possible and try to grow by reinvesting revenues (bootstrapping), others take on external capital from investors early after founding their company. But which option is better? Which situation calls for which funding strategy? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each approach?

At this month's Stammtisch we will hear experienced founders & investors talking about their opinions as well as tips & tricks for startup funding. Come and join us for this important topic!

Panelists:
- Carina Roth, Co-Founder WisR
- Eric Demuth, CEO Bitpanda
- Eva Arh, Principal capital300

Panelist Information

Carina Roth
After finishing her MBA at Webster University, Carina followed her passion for numbers and started a career as junior trader for commodities in Geneva. After three years at the trading desk though, she wanted to do something more purposeful, something that had a positive impact on society. That's why she founded the HR-tech startup WisR with Klaudia and Martin in Summer 2017, where she takes care of the entire numbers crunching and whatever KPIs and data set you can measure and analyze.

Eric Demuth
Eric Demuth is an entrepreneur with an eSports background. Whilst being active in the financial industry in London and Vienna since 2009, he also founded his first company. Frustrated by how hard it was to buy and sell cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, he co-founded Bitpanda. Before all this, he traveled the world on Hapag-Lloyd container ships while working as a ship’s mechanic, followed by economics studies at the WU Wien and London School of Economics & Political Science. Eric actively shapes the worldwide crypto community as an opinion leader in several fields.

Eva Arh
Eva is Principal at capital300, a Series A VC fund investing into European tech companies.
