Class Description
Doing improvisational theater is one of the great joys in life. Teaching it well is an art in itself. In this course you will receive twelve hours of detailed theoretical instruction on how to teach improvisational theater classes and workshops, and practice your teaching skills through hand-on examples. You will learn about the fundamentals of great teaching in general and the specifics of teaching improvisational theater in particular. You will learn how to deal with sensitive issues such as confidence and vulnerability in the classroom. Furthermore, you will be introduced to the most important concepts in modern improvisational theater and learn how to convey their core ideas in an engaging, supportive way to improvisers at any level of experience.
Participation in this class allows you to obtain a Certificate of Completion for the Certificate Program: Certified Improv Trainer. To obtain the certificate you must i) personally attend all 12 hours of this class ii) provide evidence of 24 hours of teaching improvisational theater. This class provides instruction (“Unterricht”) on how to teach (“Unterricht”) improvisational theater. The certificate of completion does not provide a license to engage in any professional activity subject to Austrian trade law (“Gewerbeordnung”) such as, for example, advising (“Beratung”).
