Question 4

Absolutely — everyone is welcome! Our goal is to raise as much as possible for VinziRast, so the more people join, the bigger the impact. Bring your friends, colleagues, neighbours, whoever!

Question 5

Do I need hiking experience?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. The route is about 5km, relaxed pace, and accessible for everyone.

Question 6

What should I wear and bring?

Accepted Answer

Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. We’ll be outside for the whole afternoon, often in direct sun, so please bring water, a cap or hat, sunglasses and sunscreen — UV levels on the hills above Vienna can be very high.

Question 7

Is food included or should I bring snacks?

Accepted Answer

Your ticket includes one drink at the Buschenschank stop. Snacks are available to purchase there, but you are welcome to bring a small snack or energy bar for the hike.

Question 8

Where exactly do we meet?

Accepted Answer

At Buschenschank Wagnerei, Dennweg 2, 1190 Wien. We meet at 1:30 PM and depart at 2:00 PM sharp.

Question 9

How do I get there by public transport?

Accepted Answer

Take tram D to its last stop (Nußdorf, Beethovengang) — it's a 7 minute walk from there. Head west on Zahnradbahnstraße, turn right onto Eduard-Reyer-Gasse, left onto Nußberggasse, then continue onto Dennweg — we'll be on your right.

Question 10

Can I arrive late or leave early?

Accepted Answer

We strongly recommend arriving by 1:30 PM so we can leave together at 2:00 PM sharp. If you need to leave early, that’s no problem — just let an organiser know before you go.

Question 11

What happens if it rains?

Accepted Answer

We hike rain or shine! Bring a light rain jacket just in case.

Question 12

What is the minimum age?

Accepted Answer

This event is 16 and over.

Question 13

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

Yes, well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome for the hike itself, including the rest stop along the way. The one exception is the after-party: the Heuriger where we finish does not allow dogs at all, so please plan to take yours home before that part of the day.

Question 14

What is VinziRast?

Accepted Answer

VinziRast is a Viennese volunteer-based organisation giving a second chance at life to people who have been excluded from society. Students and formerly homeless residents share flats and work side by side in workshops and in their restaurant Mittendrin in the 9th district.

Question 15

What are the raffle prizes?

Accepted Answer

A Mandarin Oriental spa treatment, dance courses at Tanzschule Elmayer, cocktails at Barfly's, a Zuckerlwerkstatt candy experience, Vienna's English Theatre tickets, fine wines from Domäne Wachau and more. Every ticket supports VinziRast.

Question 16

Can I buy extra raffle tickets?

Accepted Answer

Yes! And bundles bring the price down: 1 ticket for 5€, 3 for 13.50€, 5 for 20€, or 10 for 35€. We're only selling a set number, so it's worth grabbing yours early on Eventbrite to be sure. Any left will also be sold on the day. Every prize was donated, so each euro goes straight to VinziRast.

Question 17

Where is the after-party?

Accepted Answer

We finish the hike at the Pfarrwirt (Pfarrplatz 5, 1190 Wien), Vienna's oldest inn, in the Prälatensaal: a baroque room decorated in 1711. The walk ends right there, so you arrive on foot with the group and there's nothing extra to organise.

Question 18

What time is the after-party, and when is the raffle?

Accepted Answer

The after-party runs from 5 PM till late, and the raffle draw is at 6 PM. Come hungry and thirsty after the walk and stay as long as you like.

Question 19

Is food and drink at the after-party included in my ticket?

Accepted Answer

No. Your ticket covers the hike, one drink voucher at the wine stop along the way, and your raffle ticket. At the Pfarrwirt, food, wine and other drinks are ordered and paid for as usual

Question 20

Do I have to be at the after-party to win a raffle prize?

Accepted Answer

No. The draw is at 6 PM, but you don't need to be in the room. Winners are notified by email, so you are entered whether you stay to the end, leave early, or took part from afar.
