This article is about creativity, art and dementia and claims of reshaping the creativity policy. According to the WHO, the total number of people with dementia will rise to 75.6 million by 2030 and 135.5 million by 2050. Creativity is often equated with artistic talent. In recent years, creative engagement has been found to contribute to improved brain health and well-being and is essential for innovation. Artists, and people who are not artists but have been diagnosed with dementia are usually viewed by researchers in deficit terms. This presentation analyzes connections between creativity and art and existing prejudices against these target groups. It is hypothesized that innovation comes from creative dyslexic or even neurogenerative altered perception. Finally, this project is presented with a selection of individual examples of the artists and designers based on reciprocal inspiration: The DEMEDARTS project, funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF-PEEK-AR-609, aims to use artistic research methods to prove that equal, mutual inspiration of people with dementia and artists and designers without dementia in the sense of co-ability is possible. The project presents interactions in which art becomes a healing force, either through the creation of performative spaces for visual anchors, movement, and reflection, or through the collaboration of artists, designers, and arts educators in the design of experimental spaces for art, body, and mind. Creativity and culture have significant value, contributing to inclusive social development, dialogue, and understanding among peoples, and fostering innovation in the creative industries. Reshaping creativity policy means that there must be an understanding of Creative Equal Arts. Art has a significance role for all people as a possibility to live out nonverbal sensitivities. The primary view of deficits must be changed, recognized as skills to meet the challenges of our society of the future.
