INÊS LOBO

Graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon in 1989, since has been a teacher of design studio. Currently, she is a Guest Professor in Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, Universidade de Lisboa and the technical university of vienna.

She started her professional career in 1989, and founded her own office - Inês Lobo, Arquitectos - in 2002. She is frequently invited to lectures, seminars and conferences, in Portugal and abroad.

She was a invited participant of the Venice Biennale in 2016, “Reporting from the front”, and 2018, “Freespace”.

She is also a curator and commissioner of exhibitions of architecture, such as the Portuguese representation in the Venice Biennale, in 2012, or the VIII Ibero-American Architecture and Urbanism Biennale.

Regularly invited as member of juries in national and international prizes of architecture, like the Secil prize in 2006 or the FAD, in 2012. In 1999 she was honoured with title of Oficial da Ordem do Mérito by the President of the Republic of Portugal; in 2013, granted the prize “Mulheres criadoras da cultura” by the Portuguese Government; in 2014, The ArcVision - Women in Architectura prize; and in 2017, The AICA prize, granted by the Portuguese Section of the International Association of art critics.

Inês Lobo ist eine portugiesische Architektin, die für ihre innovative und kontextbewusste Architektur bekannt ist. Nach ihrem Abschluss an der Fakultät für Architektur der Universität Lissabon im Jahr 1989 arbeitete sie zunächst mit dem Architekten João Luís Carrilho da Graça zusammen und gründete 2002 ihr eigenes Büro, Inês Lobo Arquitectos. Ihr Werk umfasst Projekte in den Bereichen Bildung, Umnutzung von Bestandsgebäuden und Projekte im öffentlichen Raum, wobei sie oft bestehende Strukturen behutsam neu in den urbanen Kontext integriert.

Lobo ist auch eine engagierte Lehrerin und Kuratorin. Seit 2000 unterrichtet sie an der Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa und war 2012 Generalkuratorin der portugiesischen Teilnahme an der Architekturbiennale in Venedig. Sie wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem ArcVision Prize – Women and Architecture im Jahr 2014 und dem AICA/MC/Millennium BCP Preis im Jahr 2017.

Creating Perspective_ From Vision to Building

The lecture series Creating Perspectives: From Vision to Building is part of the module Emerging Fields in Architecture and focuses on the core architectural competence of transforming spatial visions into built reality. The invited architects share, through their projects, how their ideas—shaped by their attitude, responsibility, creativity, and technical expertise—were turned into realized buildings. The series invites participants to learn from concrete project experiences and diverse perspectives. Key questions include: What role do context, existing structures, and new technologies play in the design process? How are future-oriented architectural perspectives developed? How can creative ideas be transformed into feasible solutions? What responsibility do architects bear for shaping the built reality of tomorrow?

Die Vortragsreihe im WS 2025 Perspektiven schaffen: Von der Idee zum Bauen ist Teil des Moduls Emerging Fields in Architecture und widmet sich der zentralen architektonischen Kompetenz, räumliche Visionen in gebaute Realität zu verwandeln. Die eingeladenen Architektinnen und Architekten zeigen anhand ihrer Projekte, wie ihre Ideen – geprägt durch ihre Haltung, Verantwortung, Kreativität und technischer Umsetzungskraft - zu gebauten Projekten wurden. Die Reihe lädt dazu ein, aus konkreten Projekterfahrungen und unterschiedlichen Perspektiven zu lernen. Fragen, die uns dabei interessieren sind u.a. Welche Rolle spielen Kontext, Bestand und neue Technologien im Entwurfsprozess? Wie entstehen zukunftsfähige architektonische Perspektiven? Wie werden kreative Ideen zu umsetzbaren Lösungen weiterentwickelt und welche Verantwortung tragen Architekt:innen für die gebaute Realität von morgen?
