Here's what REALLY happened: A Story Circle for Oral Storytellers

Past events

A monthly gathering for oral storytellers to stretch their storytelling brains. This month: here's what really happened to Hansel & Gretel

We believe that the mass move to online tools is a wonderful opportunity to bring the oral storytelling community closer together.Once a month, we organise a free virtual story circle where tellers can come along, tell stories, listen to stories, give feedback, and share story ideas and insights. This month, let’s talk about what REALLY happened in the story of Hansel and Gretel.
The story is a fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hansel_and_Gretel) and in this month’s “Here’s what REALLY happened”, I challenge you to tell the story in a whole new way. Instead of simply retelling the story from the 3rd person (external perspective), pick a character or a “thing” in the story, and let them tell the story!
The most obvious characters are:

Woodcutter (father)

Woodcutter’s wife (mother or step-mother)

Hansel

Gretel

Witch

Witch’s cat/dog/other animal

Inanimate objects – the house, oven etc.

What else? YOU decide!

Grab a cup of coffee, tea or simply a glass of water, and join our monthly Zoom call:6:30am CET (Europe) / 5:30am - UK / 12:30am - New York / 7:30am - Israel / 4:30pm - Sydney, AU / 11:00am – Delhi
AND in the US (the day before) 9:30pm – California / 9:30pm – VancouverAbout the organiser: Our Monthly Story Circles are organised and facilitated by Suzanne Whitby, known in the storytelling world by her stage name, Ziyadliwa.
