The series of IIID Conversations is an online forum for (information) designers to meet and exchange experiences. This conversation will explore the development of the first journal in the field of legal design - the Legal Design Journal. The founding editor-in-chief, Prof Michael Doherty will discuss the role of user experience research in informing the development of the Journal, its collective responsibility and open-access ethos, and its goal of incorporating both formal academic and practical case-study material.

Prof. Michael Doherty is Associate Head of the Law School, Lancaster University, UK. He is co-author of Public Law (3rd edn, Routledge 2023), co-founder of the Connecting Legal Education online community and former Chair of the Association of Law Teachers. His Legal Design work encompasses education, disciplinarity, and access to justice. He is the founding editor-in-chief of the Legal Design Journal.
