As part of the first gathering of the Innovators for Net-Zero Vienna network, we will dive into how other cities are actively building bridges between government and innovation ecosystems — not just in theory, but in practice.
The session will highlight real-world approaches that have enabled public–private collaboration to thrive, offering concrete inspiration for what could work in Vienna.
Topics we’ll explore could include how to establish a Public Innovation Office, launch a Startup Sandbox, implement lightweight contracting models, introduce intra-departmental innovation champions, incentivize city staff to collaborate with ventures etc.
This is not about copying models one-to-one, but about understanding how other cities have unlocked innovation capacity through small, strategic changes — and how we might adapt similar approaches for Vienna.
Who is invited and will participate in this co-creation workshop:
- Innovators
- City of Vienna representatives
- Representatives of other Cities to give impulses for learning
- Other interestees in developing the City
