Make Smarter Decisions in Negotiation using Game Theory - SPECIAL Workshop

Austrian Association for Negotiation and Conflict Management

Negotiate in teams, discover your decision-making strengths and biases, and learn how incentives shape negotiation outcomes.

Rienößlgasse 3

Many people assume that great decisions are simply the result of intelligence, experience, or intuition. Yet in negotiations and team settings, our decisions are often influenced by incentives, biases, assumptions, and group dynamics that we may not even notice. As a result, opportunities may be overlooked, conflicts can emerge, and agreements may be made that fail to maximize value. This workshop explores the connection between decision-making and negotiation. Participants will experience firsthand how incentives shape behavior, how teams make decisions under uncertainty, and how different negotiation strategies influence outcomes.Rather than focusing solely on negotiation techniques, the workshop examines the underlying decision-making processes that drive negotiation behavior. Through realistic simulations and interactive exercises, participants will learn how to recognize common decision traps and make more effective strategic choices. The workshop combines negotiation, decision science, and behavioral insights with practical exercises, reflection, and team-based simulations.Together, we will explore how individuals and groups make decisions, how incentives influence negotiation behavior, and how different strategies can lead to very different outcomes. Drawing on concepts from game theory, participants will examine how incentives, information, and strategic choices influence negotiation outcomes.
What You Will Take Away

A better understanding of decision-making in negotiations

Awareness of common biases and decision traps

Insight into your personal decision-making strengths and weaknesses

Understanding of how incentives influence behavior and outcomes

Practical experience applying negotiation strategies in team settings

Tools for making more effective and strategic decisions

Workshop Format
The workshop is highly interactive and combines:

Short theoretical inputs

Team-based negotiation simulations

Decision-making exercises

Group discussions

Reflection and feedback sessions

Joint analysis of incentives, strategies, and outcomes

Who Is This Workshop For?
This workshop is designed for:

Anyone interested in improving their decision-making skills

Team leaders and project managers

People who negotiate regularly in professional or personal settings

Beginners with no prior experience

No prior knowledge is required—just bring your curiosity and willingness to participate.
Participation Fee
● €49 Early-Bird Ticket – online registration at least 3 days in advance● €59 Regular Ticket – online or at the door (card payment available)
About AANCM
The Austrian Association for Negotiation and Conflict Management (AANCM) organizes practical workshops and training sessions on negotiation, communication, and conflict management.Topics include:

Negotiation

Communication

Conflict Management

Professional Development

Our mission is to provide accessible, practice-oriented learning opportunities for students and young professionals. Our events combine theory, practice, and reflection in an open and supportive community.🌐 www.negotiator.at📧 office@negotiator.at🔗 Follow us on LinkedIn and Meetup
