Vienna Neighbourhood Walking Tour - 10th District, Favoriten
Overview
🚶♀️Favoriten: Eugene´´ s favourite district
because of its colourful street life, varied geography, its ever-changing architecture and big smells of worldwide food. This part of Wien is young, loud, wild, diverse, passionate and cool (many of the things missing in the rest of the city).
It is Hauptbahnhof (the most networked railway station in the world), funky new Sonnwendviertel, historic Viktor Adler street market, legendary ice cream shop Tichy Eis, Jugendstil Amalienbad pool, a proudly working class district, but with many new housing projects like at Rothneusiedl, Neues Landgut and experimental Bio-Top at Wienerberg.
Reumannplatz is often presented in the cheap press as a no-go zone, but it is Eugene’s go-to place for joy and music. The converted Anker Bakery is a big new arts complex featuring photography, street art, fine food and an orchestra. So much green space in this southern space. And some famous social housing.
