Event description
In this webinar you will learn the first steps to avoid wrong decisions by identifying and recognising your biases!

About this event

It happened again: a previously well-founded prejudice has turned out to be wrong, we have overlooked the most important option when making a decision, or we have bought the buy 2 pay 1 offer in the supermarket instead of the product on the shopping list.

Biases are thinking errors that can occur in any situation. They can cause great harm from a professional, personal and financial perspective. The worst part is, we don't notice the biases because we are not aware of them. So increasing awareness of biases is the first step to avoiding bad decisions.

In this webinar, you'll learn:

  • what biases are
  • how they show up and
  • how to recognize them

Participants in this webinar often say they are aware of the many unconscious "steers" in decision-making. However, they are not clear

  • Which ones work most strongly for them,
  • why this is so, and
  • What they can specifically do about it.

After attending the webinar, you will:

  • Have created an awareness of biases,
  • you will notice thinking errors that you did not recognize before and
  • You will take home some ideas on how to reduce them.

So you'll have a better understanding of biases and be able to avoid faulty decisions more often.

The scope of the webinar is wide: from ping pong balls to the angel to Miami, garbage bags and Charles Darwin to Barbie and Ken. Entertainment is not the real goal, it is about making psychological topics tangible.

This introductory workshop makes clearer what is often difficult to understand - what shapes our

  • perceptions,
  • opinions and
  • decisions?

In the workshop we will discuss biases such as the confirmation bias or the availability bias and through simple exercises and examples better understand how they work individually. In addition, you will learn:

  • Background on the situations in which the biases discussed are likely to occur,
  • suggestions from other participants, as well as
  • concrete tips on what measures you can take against biases.

Recognizing biases is the first step to avoid costly (professional) mistakes. Because the effects of biases usually cannot be reversed.

If you want to dive directly into the exciting topic of biases, I recommend you to take a look at the webinar series "Reduce biases in 5 steps". Here you can set individual focus points (perception, implementation,...) and explore the entire range of biases.
