The Women in Law Initiative

A global conference uniting legal professionals to discuss equality, inclusion, and the future of women in law.

Universität Wien - Juridicum

The International Women in Law Conference 2026 explores the most urgent and future-defining questions at the intersection of gender, justice, and the legal profession. Over three days, the conference brings together leading experts, practitioners, academics, and advocates from around the world to engage in powerful conversations, exchange best practices, and develop actionable solutions. This year’s program will spotlight the global pushback against women’s rights and democratic values, showcasing the work of human rights defenders and legal practitioners who confront these challenges daily. It will also open a dedicated space for constructive dialogue on the role of men in advancing gender equality - focusing on shared leadership, allyship, and cultural change.Looking ahead, the conference examines how emerging technologies and AI systems are reshaping the future of work, with particular attention to gender bias, regulatory frameworks, and the impact of digital transformation. In addition, participants will explore questions of access to justice, legal education, and the practical challenges faced by young and practicing lawyers, offering hands-on insights and workshops.A special highlight of the conference is the Women in Law Gala 2026, featuring the prestigious Justitia Awards Ceremony - celebrating outstanding women in the legal profession from around the world. The 2026 Gala will take place at an exclusive venue in Vienna, with the location to be announced.Together, these themes and events create a conference that is both intellectually rigorous and deeply action-oriented - designed to inspire, empower, and mobilize the international legal community toward a more equitable and inclusive future.
