Capital Ballet

Capital Ballet is a DC-based, female-led non-profit with a vision for reimagining the lifelong connection to ballet alongside family, education, and career pursuits. The company is a community of professionals in a range of fields who strive to create, maintain, and grow a new space to pursue excellence in both ballet and their career of choice. Capital Ballet comprises dancers of diverse background and experience. A reflection of the diversity of DC, the company includes area natives as well as those who have come to the nation’s capital from across the country and around the world.

Under the guidance of Artistic Advisor Suzanne Kritzberg, management and leadership of the company is undertaken by the dancers themselves. The collaborative environment enables dancers to choose how best to contribute their time and skills to the full range of behind-the-scenes efforts needed to support the company each season.

Capital Ballet’s season runs from Fall to Spring, culminating in a Spring Program of new and original works as well as excerpts from classical ballets. Capital Ballet aims for artistic integrity in its programming, which includes a mix of styles centered on classical and contemporary ballet. The company is an active participant in DC’s artistic community, rehearsing at local studios and commissioning works from local choreographers.
