The Living Hearth is rooted in a simple idea: community is something we create together.Inspired by the hearth as an ancient center of food, story, ritual, and belonging, our gatherings bring those traditions into contemporary life. Many are shaped by the turning of the Wheel of the Year and the seasonal rhythms that once gave communities natural reasons to gather, feast, reflect, remember, and celebrate together. Each gathering is a little different, but food, history, conversation, and shared experience are usually at the heart of what we do. We explore the stories and traditions behind seasonal celebrations, make room for reflection and creativity, share meals around a communal table, and create simple rituals that help mark the passage of the year with intention. The Living Hearth is not about recreating the past or prescribing a particular spiritual path. It is about remembering something the modern world can make surprisingly difficult: how to gather meaningfully. How to make room for one another. How to celebrate, grieve, create, eat, tell stories, and participate in the life of a community rather than simply moving alongside one another. The Living Hearth is a pillar of Mistress of the Hearth, where history, creativity, and everyday ritual meet. Through gatherings as well as writing and creative work, it explores how old traditions can remain alive—not because we preserve them unchanged, but because we continue finding meaning in them. The hearth is more than a fire in the home. It is the place we make when we choose to gather around something meaningful together.
