Frank Educational Gilmore
Frank "Educational" Gilmore, a lifelong Jersey City resident, defied the odds to become Ward F Councilman, inaugurated on January 1st, 2022. Growing up amidst the socio-economic challenges that disproportionately affect young Black and Latino males in inner-city environments, Gilmore faced numerous brushes with the law, leading to his incarceration at the age of nineteen for Possession of CDS. However, his troubled past became a catalyst for his future endeavors as he emerged from prison with a newfound determination to effect positive change.
While serving his sentence, Gilmore seized every opportunity for self-improvement, enrolling in college courses and actively mentoring fellow inmates. After completing his education, he founded the F.E.D.D.I.E. Foundation and Educational Gilmore Speaks LLC, organizations dedicated to mentoring and uplifting at-risk youth. Gilmore's inspirational journey from incarceration to advocacy has garnered national attention, leading to speaking engagements across the country and appearances on prominent platforms like the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Today, Gilmore continues his advocacy work, emphasizing the value of education through his community learning center. His unwavering commitment to Jersey City's residents, coupled with his stance against corruption and dedication to social justice, positions him as a beacon of hope for meaningful change in the city's political landscape, reminiscent of esteemed figures like Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham. Gilmore's vision for Jersey City prioritizes inclusivity and equity, promising to tackle pressing issues such as police brutality, food insecurity, and public safety with honesty and integrity.
