ADAPT Coalition
Family Connections' Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT) Coalition is dedicated to reducing substance abuse and improving the overall health of all residents in Essex County. We empower all levels of community members, from youth to older adults, and collaborate with community partners to improve prevention and awareness while advocating for local and countywide changes in policy, programs, and practices. In addition, we use this collaboration to work on strategies to reduce access to drugs and alcohol. Through these efforts, we hope to decrease and prevent prescription medication misuse/abuse, underage drinking, youth vaping/tobacco use, youth marijuana use, and the use of other drugs. Doing so will help us accomplish our vision of improving the safety and health of everyone in Essex County.
The ADAPT Coalition is managed by Family Connections, Inc., a non-profit community-based counseling and family service agency. We are funded by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), the Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA), the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
