Forest Horizons — Col & Sadie

Foraging is about much more than finding free food. It connects us to our ancestors, to each other, and to the land beneath our feet. It's fascinating, grounding and hugely rewarding. As we forage we learn about nature, seasonal rhythms, the diversity of life and the relationships in the habitats that we visit. We explore not just with our eyes, but also with our noses, mouths, fingertips and feet. Foraging is an embodied experience that reminds us that we belong in the natural world.

Forest Horizons is run by Col and Sadie, two passionate foragers who share a fascination with fungi, wild food and the ecology of the places we explore.

Col has been teaching wild food and mushroom foraging since 2012, while Sadie brings her own knowledge, curiosity and background in wildlife conservation. Together, their interests extend beyond foraging into nature connection, embodiment and exploring our relationships with the natural world and each other.

Visit our website to discover more about us, our values and our work, including some rather unconventional adventures that have challenged attitudes towards body shame, celebrated body positivity and raised money for charities close to our hearts.

You don't need to travel far to discover something extraordinary. Step outside your front door — chances are there's something edible within five paces. From pavement cracks to ancient woodland, nature is everywhere, and there's always something new to discover.

Every walk becomes a new adventure. We explore habitats, identify species, follow ecological clues and discover the hidden relationships beneath our feet. Sometimes, without warning, something clicks. A smell, a texture, an unexpected discovery, and suddenly a familiar landscape becomes something quite different.

The more we learn, the more there is to discover. Curiosity leads to more curiosity, and the natural world becomes increasingly fascinating and complex.

Foraging is also brilliant for groups. Hierarchies tend to melt away when someone helps you over a ditch or shouts "chanterelle!" from a thicket. Conversations flow. There's a shared focus, a quiet excitement.

But there's no pressure to perform or participate in any particular way. Some people love asking questions and sharing discoveries; others prefer to listen, observe or explore quietly. Everyone is welcome to find their own way of being part of the experience.

Our events range from spring wild food walks to autumn mushroom forages, with opportunities to explore the changing seasons and, on some events, prepare and taste our discoveries together.

Whether you're completely new to foraging or already have some experience, we hope you'll leave with new knowledge, fresh questions and perhaps a different way of seeing the natural world.

So, boots on, basket in hand, hazel staff ready. Let's see what the land wants to show us today.

See you in a woodland soon!
