Far East Gem Research Institute (FEGRI) brings together gemological research, laboratory services and education in Singapore. Established in 1988, our work connects the scientific study of gemstones with practical experience in the jewellery industry.

Our education programmes include Gem-A Foundation and Diploma tuition, focused one-day courses and training for jewellery teams. We welcome beginners starting formal study, collectors developing their knowledge and professionals working with gemstones and jewellery.

Students learn with the support of practising gemmologists and a specimen collection assembled over nearly 50 years by Mr Tay Thye Sun, Ms Loke Hui Ying and Mr Tay Kunming.

Our training experience includes Poh Heng Jewellery, Lee Hwa Jewellery and On Cheong Jewellery, alongside international brands such as Tiffany & Co., BVLGARI, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
