HWPL

HWPL is a non-governmental organization registered with the Seoul Metropolitan Government of the Republic of Korea. It is associated with the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC) and in Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). In keeping with the spirit of the Declaration of World Peace, that HWPL aims to achieve world peace through the heavenly culture and restore the global community with light, we are carrying out peace activities all across the world.

With our partner group, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), and our affiliate group, the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), HWPL is leading an international peace movement with leaders in all walks of life without being limited by national, cultural, or ideological boundaries. Moreover, we seek to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by spreading a culture of peace through various means such as forums, education, volunteer work, and campaigns.

HWPL’s peace activities will continue until sustainable peace is assured for future generations.

Three Main Initiatives of HWPL

1. Law for Peace

HWPL is working toward the institutionalization of peace through international law to prevent war and ensure lasting peace. In 2016, HWPL proclaimed the "Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)," which is now being promoted globally as a legally binding document.

- The DPCW consists of 10 articles and 38 clauses, covering war prevention, conflict resolution, and the protection of freedom of religion and expression.

- HWPL is aiming to submit the DPCW to the UN to be adopted as draft resolution working alongside legal experts, religious leaders, civil society organizations, and governments

- Legislate Peace(LP) Project is to practice DPCW in our lives and advancing peace through legal frameworks for peace

2. Alliance of Religions

Religion has played a significant role in human history, but religious conflicts have also contributed to wars and divisions. HWPL seeks to resolve such conflicts by promoting interfaith dialogue and harmony.

- HWPL has established "World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Offices" worldwide, where religious leaders engage in discussions.

- HWPL operates the "International Religious Peace Academy (IRPA)", a platform where representatives of different religions can lecture about their faiths and teachings. Participants gain deeper understanding of various religions, ultimately fostering interfaith harmony and mutual respect.

- Collaborating with religious leaders encouraged to build trust and strengthen cooperation in promoting peace.

3. Peace Education

Education is essential for sustaining a culture of peace. HWPL actively promotes HWPL Peace Education to teach future generations about the value of peace and encourage them to practice it. It is an education that fosters citizens of peace with the value and spirit of peace.

- HWPL collaborates with ministries of education in several countries and UNESCO to offer peace education to the students

- Various workshops, seminars, and training programs are conducted to spread the culture of peace
