Learn To Skate Outside
Learn To Skate Outside, LLC is a Colorado-based educational organization focused on wild ice skating. We teach adult skaters how to find, assess, and safely skate natural ice. Our programs combine field-tested wild ice knowledge, wilderness safety practices, and the history of skating’s outdoor roots.
Our flagship course, Wild Ice Skating 101 – A Basics Workshop, covers:
- Predicting, finding, and assessing natural ice
- Traveling safely across natural ice
- Choosing and using ice safety gear
- Self-rescue and rescuing a partner
The workshop ends with an hour of hands-on rescue practice on the rink. In-person workshops run each fall and winter, and an online course is on the way.
Learn To Skate Outside is the sister organization of Blade Mastery Skating, which offers beginner-to-elite edgework instruction for figure, hockey, and Nordic skaters.
