Why Our Training Matters

Sexual violence is a serious global public health issue with wide-ranging health, social, and economic impacts. Yarrow Place provides training designed to help communities and professionals recognise and respond safely to disclosures of sexual violence.

The ability to respond appropriately to disclosures is critical. Survivors often experience significant emotional, psychological, and physical impacts, and the way their disclosure is received can profoundly influence their recovery. Timely, compassionate, and trauma-informed responses can:

Reduce the long-term impacts of sexual violence

Promote survivors’ safety and well-being

Improve access to support services and justice pathways

By equipping professionals and community members with these skills, Yarrow Place helps ensure that disclosures lead to meaningful support and intervention, contributing to survivor-centred care and social justice outcomes.

Our Approach

All programs are grounded in adult learning principles and employ diverse methods to engage participants, ensuring that the voice of lived experience is central to the content. Training is delivered in a safe and supportive environment that prioritises compassion, curiosity, and the Service’s core values:

Feminist perspective

Victims’ rights

Social justice

Consumer voice

Trauma-informed practice
